STOCKDALE- Stockdale ISD includes a Gifted and Talented program for students with
a potential to excel in general intellectual ability. The Gifted and Talented Nomination
and Screening Committee will begin the nomination and screening process for students
in grades 1-11 on November 14, 2011. The nominations period will be two weeks
starting on November 14, 2011 and ending November 30, 2011at 4 PM. After
nominations have been placed, permission slips for testing will be sent home and
testing will begin.
Approximately 3 -5% of students enrolled will qualify for inclusion in this program. A
student may be nominated to the Gifted and Talented program in a variety of ways. A
student may be nominated for the program by teachers, counselors, parents, or other
interested persons. Once a student is nominated for the program, a variety of
information is gathered on each student. No single test score or nomination will qualify
a child for the program.
Once all the information is gathered, a Selection Committee meets to determine which
students qualify for the program. The program focuses on developing higher level
thinking skills, creative thinking skills, and research skills with an emphasis in the four
core areas of instruction. If an individual wishes to nominate a student for this program,
he/she may come by the student’s school and request the necessary nomination form.
All forms must be completed and returned to the school by 4:00 PM on November 30,
2011. If a person wishing to nominate a student is unable to come to the school, he/she
may call the school and the form will be sent. The form also can be accessed on the
Stockdale ISD web site at

Students who enter the program must have parental permission prior to admission. Should you have any questions about this program or the selection process, contact Roxanne Seidel at
