Pasta for Patients

January 16 – February 5, 2018

It is that time of year again…..time to raise money for cancer research!!!  Our school district runs a three week campaign to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Each year our school has raised over $5000.00 to help find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Each teacher will have a box in his/her classroom. The students will bring money to be turned into their 2nd period teacher during the week and try to fill up the boxes.  The teacher with the most money at the end of the three weeks will be rewarded with an Olive Garden meal for his/her class, if the criterion is met.

To have Olive Garden furnish a meal, the campus must raise $750.00.

We have campus wide incentives for each week.  Any student, who brings a dollar by end of day Thursday of that week, may participate in the Friday incentive activity.  A list of students who may participate will be sent out.  Please feel free to offer your own incentives during your class.  Some students were suggesting free homework passes if they brought an extra $1.00.  That is definitely up to you as a teacher.  This is what we have come up with as fun things.  Please let me know if you can think of something else.

1st week- Guess how Much Jar-Pay $1.00 to guess how much money is in the jar. Person closest to the correct amount gets a prize and the money from the jar goes into their teacher box for the week.(One at each campus)

High School – Put Cancer to Sleep –students who pay a dollar can wear pajama pants or Wear a Cap/Hat (Pay $2.00 to wear both)

2nd week

High School – Dodge ball vs. Coaches (1st weeks winning class)

3rd week

High School – pay a $1.00 for off-campus lunch (permission slips will be sent home)

Money will picked up on your campus each Friday around 12:35pm.  Last year some teachers had a great idea of turning in their money by using storage bags rather than turning in the boxes.  I have placed Ziploc bags in your mailboxes with your names and room numbers on them to be picked up on Friday. If you would please have your money in this bag and have it counted with a slip of paper inside it with the total, it would be greatly appreciated.

The bags will be redistributed on Monday for the next week.

Thank you sooo much for taking time to help raise money!!!!
