From the Desk of the Counselor at Stockdale High School

Jingle all the way, it's the most wonderful time of the school year at Stockdale High School! We have so many deadlines approaching and the hallways are buzzing along! Seniors are completing College Applications and stressing about making the College Decisions! Senior and  families of the senior students need to visit the FAFSA website ( https://fafsa.ed.gov ) before you complete the FAFSA parent and Student  will need  to sign up for their personal FSA ID number that is required before completing the FAFSA ( Free Application for Federal Student Aid ) College students and their families must complete this FAFSA each year they are in College!  The FAFSA opens on Jan. 1, 2016, but you must have completed your families income tax, so try to have the income tax completed  by February 14th each year, so you may sit down with your son/daughter to complete the FAFSA! If you have concerns pleases email me or call me!
I also want to remind students wanting to do the Dual Credit program for the school year 2016-2017 all parts of the process must be completed by February 1st , 2016.  There are many steps to this process so you must get started or you may run out of time to test for the TSI at St. Philips College at their testing center! Students have the directions to the process and must follow them to the letter "T".
The Stockdale National Honor Society is also sponsoring  the Round up for Sheriff Santa and this is an annual service activity the students sponsor for our community and the families of Wilson County! It is an honor to see this program grow each year and to see how when we all join together we can help someone in need, these small gifts can really make a difference in a Families life and their outlook towards life! Thanks so much to everyone that has donated items to the Sheriff Santa Program!
Parents please make sure to keep up with your students assignments, and check on their absences! We need every student here  at school everyday! Today's High School culture is a fast paced atmosphere,  and when they miss one class they have missed so much and have to make time before school or after school to get caught up! We are enriching students lives and preparing them for life after High School! If at anytime you have concerns about your son or daughter please call or email me for help!
I will end this article with a positive note, I want to wish all a wonderful holiday and wishes of good health, good fortune and a wonderful New Year!
