Texas Time Travelers Organization
Two members of the Texas Time Travelers Organization came to Stockdale Junior High to do a presentation over life during the 1800's in Texas. Our very own Helen Tillery along with her husband Barry Tillery explained and demonstrated many everyday task that men and women had to deal with during this time period. They showed the students how to make fire with a flint rock, what different furs looked like and what purpose they served during that time, and also what the duty of a women and a man was during that time just to list a few. The students really enjoyed the fire and gun demonstrations, being able to see what a real tent looked like, and see the minimal accommodations that people had to live with during that time period. The students were able to visually see HISTORY, and what life was like during that time period. I also believe that they gained a great appreciation for what they have in their own everyday lives today.
