Puente to Compete at State Competition in July
Launch the media gallery 1 playerJessica Puente can add two more accomplishments to her wonderful Junior year. Jessica placed 2nd in Sr. Prepared Public Speaking at the Guadalupe Valley District as well as 2nd at the Area VII competition. By advancing past Area Jessica will hope to add another victory on July 8th at the State Convention in Dallas. When asked about all of her wonderful accomplishments this year Jessica just reply, "I'm so Blessed!" Not only can Jessica show lambs, but she can sure speak on a subject that's very interesting to her. Jessica's speech is on hydroponics,a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil. In todays society this is becoming a popular way to grow plants for human as well as animal consumption. In this competition each competitor writes their own speech, which lasts between 6-8 minutes. After the speech there is an additional 5 minutes allowed for each judge to ask the competitors questions. After the Area competition I spoke with the judges and they were very impressed with how fast Jessica can think on her feet. They said not only does she speak with confidence but can answer questions at the drop of a hat. We are all so proud of Jessica and wish her the best at the State Competition in July.
