Cranes for Joey

By Sara Lyssy

November 24, 2009

“If you make a thousand paper cranes for your friend who is ill they will get better,” or so ancient legend says. The students and faculty of Stockdale High school wanted a way to support their long-time friend Joey Tamez in his fight against cancer, so they put their skills to work in making paper cranes. The newly formed F.O.R. Club learned how to make the paper cranes in a lunchtime meeting. They then held a paper crane party during lunch. The goal was to get each student to make four cranes. The students were very excited to work on this project. They continually checked on quantities, cut paper to size, and folded paper. They completed their mission in two weeks and presented the strings of cranes to Mr. Tamez on Friday, November 6th.
